Steorn chooses among 103 doctorates

Steorn has recently updated its "Challange" page:

"Steorn has finished reviewing and short-listing all credentials sent in as part of the Jury application process.

The resulting short-list includes all applicants who filed sufficient details.

Combined, these applicants represent: 262 degrees, 127 masters degrees, 103 doctorates, 3074 published academic papers and 4220 years of experience.

We are now in the process of contacting applicants to get a picture of time availability to start phase 1."

The Guardian has brought up a follow up: Newly asked questions: How can you patent a perpetual motion machine?

It shows a discrepency between Steorn's claim of their invention being "patent pending" and the state of their patent application at WIPO and the US Patent Office.

A short article about steorn appears today at The Observer

If the invention is bogus and the purpose of this whole stunt is to extract investors' money, then accepting investors with wide arms may indicate exactly this. Otherwise, if the invention is genuine they wouldn't want to further jeopardize their credibility. Therefore it would be a smart decision not to accept investors anyway

They say the invention was tested in the last 3 years by themselves. Does this mean they already have enough money from previous work and they really don't need investors' money? Perhaps.
